Implementation Process By President

The Board annually approves the college calendar and holidays upon the recommendation of the President.
 
A.  The traditional holidays normally allowed are:
  • Independence Day (4th of July)
  • Labor Day (1st Monday in September)
  • Thanksgiving (The Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving week)
  • Winter Holiday (Last six week days of the calendar year)
  • New Year’s Day (January 1)
  • Martin Luther King Day / Wyoming Equality Day (3rd Monday in January)
  • President’s Day (3rd Monday in February)
  • Spring Break Holiday (The Friday of Spring Break as designated in the CWC Academic Calendar).   Only on a leap year, an additional college holiday is added as the Thursday of Spring Break immediately following February 29 of that year.
  • Spring Holiday (The Friday before Easter)
  • Memorial Day (Last Monday in May)
 B.  If the holiday falls on a Saturday, it will be observed on Friday. If it falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on Monday.

C.  If a holiday occurs on a Saturday or Sunday, employees whose normal work schedule includes working on a Saturday or Sunday will observe the holiday on that day – the holiday will not be moved to Monday or Friday for that employee.
 
D.  Benefited employees will only receive holiday pay if the holiday falls on their regularly scheduled workday. Refer to procedure 7.3.1 Overtime for pay procedure.
 
E.  Exempt employees directed to work on an official college holiday, will be permitted to observe the holiday at another time (within the same or following pay period) with supervisor approval.
 
F.  Employees may utilize personal or vacation leave or unpaid leave, with the prior approval by the employee’s supervisor, to observe religious holidays that are not official college holidays.
 
G.  The college will also be closed weekends during specific holiday weekends as specified in CWC Administrative Policy 5.3 Facilities Use.
