Implementation Process By Chief Administrative Services Officer

When emergencies (including weather, power failure, etc.) affecting college operations in Riverton, Lander, or the Wind River Indian Reservation arise, the president or his/her designee shall decide when and for how long the college shall be closed. Decisions regarding cancellation of college classes in other locations shall be made by the Director - Outreach Center in each location.

If travel is prohibitive in the immediate area due to weather, or other extenuating circumstances (electrical, plumbing, etc.), the president will make a decision to close the college by 5:30 a.m. The Chief Administrative Services Officer will work with the Director - Physical Plant in deciding necessary staff to remain at work, and the Chief Academic Officer will make a decision regarding the cancellation of classes.

After the president confers with other administrators, he/she will contact the Public Information Officer, who will ensure information is posted on the web site and will also call radio stations in Riverton/Lander and appropriate outreach locations to advise the public of the closure. There may be occasions when the decision to close the campus may only affect courses held during the day. In those situations, a decision will be made later in the day as to whether night courses should be canceled.

If the president is gone, the decision to close the campus will be made by:
(1) Chief Administrative Services Officer,
(2) Chief Academic Officer
(3) Chief Student Officer.

The phone system administrator will also need to ensure the main phone line message is updated with information regarding the closure
